Thorin Thursday #11 - The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies – Main Trailer – HD Official Warner Bros. UK

This is the final trailer to be released for The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. It is also the best. From what I see the special effects in this trailer are better than what we have previously seen in the other trailers and dare I say Hobbit movies. The battle sequence in this seems to be more in line with The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, especially when the Orcs are running into Erebor. That scene reminds me of ants running into their nest.

Then we have Galadriel kissing an apparently wounded Gandalf on the forehead.  I know she was not mentioned in the book but I love that she is in the movie. Galadriel gives an wise and ethereal balance to the movie.

There is Saruman saying"Leave Sauron to me". Well I guess we know that Saruman turning his back on the good in the world and joining forces with Sauron is close at hand.

Of course we have our Thorin Oakenshield looking regal and heartbreaking at the same time. You can see it in his eyes he wants to protect his nephews and I think especially Kili.

The beautiful panoramic view of what appears to be Thorin standing on a stone and looking out at the water.

The Hobbit Dwarves: Before and After Make-Up (The One Ring)

I don't know if this has been already and if it has been, sorry I don't remember. But over at The One Ring. net Demosthenes has done a side by side of all 13 actors as themselves and as their characters.

Here are a few, starting with uncle and nephews and one or two more.

Never really noticed before how sexy Graham McTavish is as well. Like his smattering of chest hair.

Release Date for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey Extended Editions

Don't know if this has been reported yet but Amazon has The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey on pre-order sale for both Blue-ray and DVD. The release date is November 5, 2013. So at last we have a release date for it. I don't know if I'll order it or not yet or just wait until after it is up for sale. Of course if I order The Hobbit now and the price drops further before the release date I'll get it for that price, regardless if and when the price of the DVD goes up. I did that with the History Channels series "Vikings" and it now costing me half of the original price and the price went back up but still less than the original asking price. I don't know. I'll just wait and think about it.
