'The Hobbit' is #1 at the Box Office

For the third weekend in a row 'The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey' came in first at the domestic box office by earning $32.9 million holding off the Quentin Tarantino latest movie 'Django Unchained', which earned a not too shabby $30.7 million and 'Les Mis' rounding out the top 3 by earning $28 million.

'The Hobbit' has been doing well over the past week and $300 million seems like it could be in play again. Through the 17 days, the first three 'Lord of the Ring' prequel movies earned $222.7 million, which is in between 'Fellowship of the Ring', which made $189.3 million and 'The Two Towers' which made $243.6 million.

On the overseas front, 'The Hobbit' raked in another $106.5 million this weekend from 16,600 screens in 62 territories giving the Middle-earth epic an overseas total of $464 million  and an overall worldwide gross of $686 million.
